Standing up for human rights in solidarity with the women of Iran

Triggered by the death of 22-year-old Jina Mahsa Amini in Iran, hera partners, associates and employees collectively join the global call for justice and demand that authorities in Iran and around the world refrain from any disproportionate use of force against peaceful protesters exercising their legitimate rights to freedom of opinion and expression. As a cooperative company founded on the premise of upholding and fighting for human rights, we condemn the use of physical violence against women and any policy or action contrary to the rights afforded to everyone under the UN Charter of Human Rights and the Vienna Declaration.

Everyone everywhere is entitled to the right to live free from violence and discrimination; to enjoy the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health; to be educated; to own property; to vote, and to earn an equal living wage. Globally, we acknowledge that this is still not the case for many people and in many cases, women and girls face significant discrimination based on sex and gender. Gender inequality is an issue that underpins many of our most pressing global problems. In all our work, hera remains committed to the struggle to overcome this inequality. We are proud to be a signatory to the Women's Empowerment Principles, an initiative from UN Women and the UN Global Compact. We will continue to work on initiatives focused on eliminating violence against women and girls and standing up for human rights.
