What we do
At hera, our international, multidisciplinary team is comprised of highly skilled professionals with extensive expertise in health and development research, program implementation, strategy development, monitoring, evaluation, and policy formulation.
Our core competencies encompass a wide range of areas in the health and development sector, with a special focus on monitoring and evaluation.
Dive deeper into our most recent initiatives across the foundational pillars of Health, Development, and Human Rights, as illuminated in our latest blog entries.
Health
We focus on a wide range of health issues, from policy and economics to research and development. This includes exploring how healthcare is delivered, funded, and researched, along with the workforce that makes it all happen.
We champion sustainable development initiatives. This means we work on issues like access to clean water and sanitation, quality education, and the effects of climate change. We also focus on fostering strong communities and effective partnerships to achieve these goals.

hera promotes human rights by advocating for equality and social protections, particularly for vulnerable groups. This includes ensuring access to healthcare and development opportunities. Our rights-based approach emphasizes that these are not just privileges, but fundamental rights for all.

In 2023, Malawi and Mozambique faced a double blow of natural disasters and public health crises. The devastation caused by Cyclone Freddy, coupled with a severe cholera outbreak, left communities grappling with loss, destruction, and a lack of basic services. In response, UNICEF activated its Level 2 Corporate Emergency Activation Procedure (CEAP) to address the urgent needs of those affected. A recent evaluation by hera sheds light on the effectiveness and impact of UNICEF’s response to these concurrent emergencies, offering critical insights for future humanitarian efforts.
